Members of the Communication and Journalism Educators’ Network (CJEN) Bangladesh met on March 2, 2025 with representatives from Fojo Media Institute, Linnaeus University in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, to discuss potential collaboration on AGILE, a new EU-funded global project aimed at supporting independent media over the next four years. The AGILE project, led by Internews in collaboration with Fojo Media Institute, will focus on strengthening journalism education in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. Key areas of engagement include investigative journalism, stress and trauma in reporting, climate journalism, and women’s leadership in media.
The CJEN Executive Committee members attending the meeting included: Jude William Genilo (CJEN Bangladesh, Founder); Rani Ramos (AIUB); Nadia Rahman (Bangladesh University of Professionals); SM Imran Hossain (Dhaka University); Tania Sultana (Stamford University); Muhammad Abdul Kader (ULAB); and Shariful Islam (North South University). Fojo Media was represented by Sofie Byrnes Gullberg (International Program Manager) and Maria Pettersson (Project Coordinator for Asia).
Discussions centered on how CJEN Bangladesh could play a role in the project, contributing expertise in journalism education and capacity-building initiatives. The collaboration aims to enhance training, research, and professional development for journalism educators and students in Bangladesh. “We are excited about the prospect of working with Fojo Media and Internews through the AGILE project. Strengthening journalism education is crucial, and this initiative aligns well with CJEN’s commitment to empowering educators and media professionals,” said Professor Dr. Jude William Genilo, Founder of CJEN Bangladesh.
